Meegwun Fairbrother is a Canadian actor of Ojibway and Scottish origin, from Grassy Narrows First Nation. He is a graduate of York University’s Acting Conservatory. In addition to being an award-winning actor, Meegwun is also a talented Northern traditional dancer and singer.
On television, Meegwun has appeared on the Amazon series The Sticky, CBC’s dramas Burden of Truth and SkyMed, the APTN series Mohawk Girls for five seasons, the Syfy series Helix, as well as Hemlock Grove and Avatar: The Last Airbender for Netflix. He also wrote, directed, and starred in his original series D dot H. His feature film credits include roles in Seeds, Finality of Dusk, Beeba Boys for Deepa Mehta and Breakout for Damien Lee.
An award-winning stage actor and playwright, Meegwun Fairbrother continues to perform in theater. In 2019, he mounted a hugely successful one-man show Isitwendam (An Understanding) at Native Earth Performing Arts in Toronto, about whether healing has an expiry date; it earned 4 Dora Award nominations. Meegwun is currently based in Toronto and Winnipeg.
