Stefanie Scott

Biography

Stefanie Scott is an actor, writer, and musician steadily carving out space as one of Hollywood’s most intriguing young talents. She broke out in INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 from Blumhouse and Focus Features, performing all her own stunts and helping drive the hit horror franchise to a global box office of over $122M. The role established her as a fearless genre performer with a growing cult following.

She has just made her debut as a screenwriter with GIRLS LIKE GIRLS for Focus Features, produced by Marc Platt Productions and Imagine Entertainment. Adapted from pop & queer icon Hayley Kiyoko’s viral music video (160+ million views)—where Stefanie also starred—the feature marks her transition into the filmmaker space. The film is set for release next year.

On screen, Stefanie recently wrapped the gritty indie feature OPENERS, described as Almost Famous meets Friday the 13th, where she performs original music. She is currently in post on her writer-director debut, the short film SORRY, I SUCK, and has several original projects in development.

Stefanie starred in the Peacock original series GIRL IN THE WOODS, directed by Krysten Ritter and Jacob Chase, and the viral thriller GIRL IN THE BASEMENT, a true-story-inspired film where she played a young woman imprisoned by her own father for 20 years, forced to give birth and raise his children in captivity. More recent film work includes BEAUTIFUL BOY alongside Timothée Chalamet (Amazon MGM), the period occult horror THE LAST THING MARY SAW (Shudder), and Jon M. Chu’s first film with Universal JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS produced by Jason Blum.

Other credits include Pierce Brosnan’s thriller I.T., ABC’s ALASKA DAILY starring Hilary Swank, Jason Stone’s AT FIRST LIGHT (SXSW) alongside Théodore Pellerin, SMALL TOWN CRIME (SXSW) with Octavia Spencer and John Hawkes, MARY opposite Gary Oldman and Emily Mortimer, Warner Bros.’ comedy GOOD GIRLS GET HIGH, and the Oscar-nominated animated feature WRECK-IT RALPH. Stefanie got her start in Rob Reiner’s FLIPPED (Warner Bros.) and portrayed the young Natalie Portman in NO STRINGS ATTACHED (Paramount).
